Help & FAQ
Answers to the questions people ask most about online appointments, prescriptions and payments on Dktorakam.
Getting started
Dktorakam is an app that connects you with licensed doctors in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. You can consult a doctor by video or voice from home, or book an in-person visit at their clinic, and keep your prescriptions, lab results and health records in one place — in English, Arabic or Kurdish.
Open the app and tap Sign up. Enter your name, phone number or email, and a password — or continue with Google or Apple. We send you a 6-digit code to confirm the number or address is yours, and your account is ready.
Yes. You can browse doctors, read articles, listen to podcasts and explore most of the app as a guest. You will be asked to sign in the moment you do something that belongs to you personally — booking, messaging, or saving a health record.
English, Arabic and Kurdish (Sorani), including full right-to-left layout. Change the language any time from Profile → Settings; you can also filter the doctor list by the languages a doctor speaks.
No. Dktorakam is not an emergency service. If you have chest pain, difficulty breathing, heavy bleeding, loss of consciousness, a suspected stroke, poisoning, or thoughts of harming yourself, call your local emergency services or go to the nearest hospital right away.
Appointments
Open the Doctors tab, choose a specialist, pick an available time slot, and confirm. Pay from your wallet or with any supported method, and you will get a reminder before the appointment starts.
Filter the doctor list by speciality, city, language, price or rating. Each profile shows the doctor's qualifications, the clinics they work at, their consultation types and prices, their availability, and reviews from patients who actually consulted them. If you are not sure which speciality you need, start with a general practitioner.
Yes, for doctors who offer clinic visits. Pick the clinic and the day, and you get a queue number instead of an exact minute. The app reminds you when it is time to leave, and the clinic checks you in when you arrive.
Open the appointment from your Schedule and choose Cancel, then book a new slot. Cancelling well in advance returns the money to your wallet; cancelling shortly before the start time, or after the consultation has begun, may not be refundable.
If you do not join an online consultation and did not cancel it, it is recorded as a no-show and the fee is not refunded — the doctor kept the time free for you. If you could not attend for a genuine reason, open a refund request and we will look at it.
Yes. You get a notification before the consultation starts, a countdown as the time approaches, and — for clinic visits — a reminder telling you when to set off. Make sure notifications are allowed for Dktorakam in your phone settings.
Consultations
A few minutes before the time you booked, the consultation appears at the top of your home screen. Tap Join, allow camera and microphone access, and you are in the call with the doctor. Find a quiet, private place with a good internet connection, and have your medicines or previous results nearby.
Rejoin from the same screen — the session stays open for the rest of your booked time. If you can, switch to Wi-Fi or move somewhere with better signal, or turn off video and continue by voice. If the consultation could not take place at all, request a refund and we will review it.
Wait a few minutes — doctors sometimes run over with the patient before you. If the doctor never joins, the consultation is marked as not held and you can request a full refund to your wallet from the appointment screen.
No. We do not record the audio or video of consultations. Written messages, the doctor's summary, prescriptions and lab requests are saved to your record so you can read them later. Please do not record or screenshot the doctor without their consent, and they will not do so without yours.
Yes, for a follow-up period after the consultation you can send the doctor a message about the same problem. Doctors answer when they are free, not instantly. For a new problem, or after the follow-up window closes, book a new consultation.
No. Many problems can be assessed and treated remotely, but some need a physical examination, imaging or a laboratory test. If that is the case, the doctor will tell you and may request tests or refer you to a clinic — that is a proper outcome of the consultation, not a failure of it.
Payments
Go to the Wallet screen and tap Top Up. You can pay with FIB, ZainCash, FastPay, NassWallet or a bank card. Your balance updates automatically as soon as the payment is confirmed.
Each doctor sets their own price, and it can differ between a chat, a voice call, a video call and a clinic visit. The exact amount is always shown before you confirm and pay — there are no charges added afterwards.
Open the appointment or the Wallet screen and choose Request a refund, then say what went wrong. We review each request; if it is upheld, the amount goes back to your Dktorakam wallet, usually within a few days. Sending it back to the original payment method depends on that provider and takes longer.
Give it a few minutes — payment providers sometimes confirm late. Pull down to refresh the Wallet screen. If the amount left your account and still has not appeared after an hour, contact support with the date, amount and the reference number from your payment provider, and we will trace it.
Yes — because we never see it. Card numbers and wallet credentials are entered on the payment provider's own secure page, not in Dktorakam. We only receive whether the payment succeeded, the amount, and a reference number.
Prescriptions & records
That is the doctor's clinical decision, made after they assess you. Many consultations end with a prescription; some end with advice, a test request or a referral instead. Paying for a consultation buys the doctor's time and judgement, not a particular prescription. Controlled medicines generally cannot be prescribed remotely.
They are all in your Records section, split into prescriptions and consultation summaries. Everything a doctor issues to you on Dktorakam is saved there automatically and stays available after the consultation ends.
Open the prescription and use Share to create a link. Anyone you send that link to can open the document until it expires, and you can switch the link off at any time. You can also simply show the prescription on your screen at the counter.
The request appears in your Labs section with the tests listed. Take it to any laboratory you trust — show the shared link or the screen. When you get the results, upload a photo or PDF to the same request, and your doctor can review them.
Yes, and it is worth doing. Add your conditions, allergies, current medicines, surgeries and vaccinations to your health profile, and upload old reports or scans. The doctor you consult sees this and can advise you far more safely — an unknown allergy is the most common cause of a dangerous prescription.
Family
Open your profile, tap Family Profiles, then Add Profile. You can manage their health records, book on their behalf, and switch between profiles at any time from the top of the home screen.
Yes. Switch to their profile before you book, so the doctor sees the right patient, the right age and the right medical history — this matters a great deal for children's doses. The consultation, prescription and summary are all saved under that person's profile, not yours.
They can claim their profile. You share the link code from their family profile, they enter it when creating their own account, and their health records move with them. After that the profile is theirs and you no longer manage it.
Health tools
Between visits you can set medication and appointment reminders, record vitals such as blood pressure, blood sugar and weight, follow your children's growth on WHO charts, track your cycle or pregnancy, and use guided calming sessions. Everything you record is available to show the doctor at your next consultation.
No. The health tools and any symptom guidance are for information and self-management only — they are not a diagnosis. Only a doctor who has assessed you can diagnose and treat you. Never start, stop or change a medicine because of something the app showed you.
Yes. It is part of your own health record. No other user can see it, and it is never published anywhere. A doctor only sees it if it is part of the record you are consulting them about.
Privacy & security
You, any doctor you have consulted or currently have a booking with, and the account holder who manages your profile if you are on a family profile. Doctors you have never consulted cannot see your records, and nothing from your record is ever published on the website.
It works until it expires, and anyone holding it can open that one document — so send it only to the pharmacy, laboratory or person who needs it. You can revoke a link at any time from the document, and it stops working immediately.
No. We do not sell your personal or health information, and we do not use it for advertising. We share it only with the doctor you consult, the providers needed to run the service (payments, SMS, hosting, calls), and the authorities where the law requires it. The Privacy Policy sets this out in full.
Account
Because your account holds medical records. Verifying your phone number or email proves the account reaches you and nobody else, and it is how we send appointment codes and let you recover access if you lose your password. You cannot sign in until it is done.
Wait for the timer to finish and tap Resend. Check that the number or email is spelled correctly, look in your spam folder, and make sure you have signal. If it still does not arrive, try the other method — email instead of SMS, or the reverse — or contact support.
Go to Profile → Settings and choose Delete account, or write to support. We remove your personal data and stop all notifications. Some records — medical and payment history — must be kept for the period the law requires, and are not used for anything else afterwards.
Open Profile → Help & Support and send us a message; it arrives linked to your account, so we can see the appointment or payment you are asking about. You can also email support@dktorakam.app. For anything urgent and medical, contact emergency services rather than support.
